Harpist- musician – arranger/composer/improviser – project director
Victoria Davies is one of the most prolific and versatile musicians of her generation. She has worked and lived in the UK, Thailand and the Netherlands, where she performs as a chamber, orchestra and solo harpist, specialising in contemporary repertoire and collaborations with other artistic disciplines, and has toured within Europe and the Far East.
Career highlights include recordings and live performances with the Choirs of Christ Church and Magdalen College, Oxford; premieres of contemporary works at November Music festival, NL; performing with Bangkok Opera in Hanoi, Vietnam; performances for HM the Queen at Buckingham Palace and for King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands at the Hermitage, Amsterdam; concerto soloist and recording artist at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam.
As well as performing with professional orchestras and chamber groups in the Netherlands, the UK and further afield, including Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, the Dutch National Ballet, and the Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique, she organises her own multi-disciplinary projects with artists from other disciplines and musical genres. She has recently organised two tours in NL for the British a-cappella group Papagena, and a collaboration with the composition department of Codarts Rotterdam.
She also regularly collaborates with composers Felipe Ignacio Noriega, with whom she co-composed a ballet score for harp and electronics; and Wilma Pistorius, whose solo work for harp, written for Victoria, is published by the prestigious Dutch contemporary music publisher Donemus. Other commissions recently performed include a new work for harp, recorder and upper voices by the Belgian film and tv composer Jelle Verstraten, and new works commissioned by the British choral composer Mark Blatchly.
